  • Ragu (Meat Sauce): Slow-cooked meat sauce, typically featuring ground beef ( veal can be used instead of ground beef), onion, garlic, tomato paste, and red wine.
  • Béchamel Sauce: A classic white sauce made from butter, flour, and milk, often used in Northern Italian style to make the lasagna creamy.
  • Pasta: Freshly made or high-quality egg pasta sheets.
  • Cheese: Layered with shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan.

La Cucina lasagna on Norwegian Cruise Line is a classic, rich meat-based lasagna,  with a deep savory flavor and layering of Bolognese sauce, pasta, mozzarella, and parmesan. It is a traditional Northern Italian-style dish.

Preparation Method
  • Prepare the Ragu: Slow-cook the meat sauce to ensure deep flavor.
  • Make or Prepare Pasta: If using fresh pasta, roll it into thin sheets.
  • Layering: In a baking dish, layer the bolognese, pasta, béchamel, mozzarella, and parmesan, repeating until the dish is full.
  • Baking: Bake at roughly 160°C – 190°C (325°F – 375°F) for 30–45 minutes until bubbly and golden, sometimes broiled at the end to brown the top.
  • Resting: Allow to rest for 30–45 minutes before serving to ensure the layers hold together.
